Anyone who has ever been near a young child has experienced the importance and value of celebrating the seemingly small successes in life. A child trying to take its first step is usually met with clapping, joy, smiles, encouragement and expressions of delight. We are also inclined to chant a variety of phrases such as "come on, you can do it, keep going, good boy, good girl etc." In fact it is often this enthusiastic support that makes the child keep going, earnestly delighted in the attention and belief we bestow upon them.
