Many of us move through our lives with personalities that do not reflect or resemble our true self. We standby and watch as limited parts of our selves take control. We may act helpless or despondent, picky or pushy. We may play the part of the victim or tyrant, worrier or nag. Whether our limited personality seems nice such as a people pleaser or harsh as a critic is not really the issue. Any one part or character that acts as if it is the captain of our ship can move us off course, block our inner joy and drain our life energy.

Anyone who has ever been near a young child has experienced the importance and value of celebrating the seemingly small successes in life.  A child trying to take its first step is usually met with clapping, joy, smiles, encouragement and expressions of delight.  We are also inclined to chant a variety of phrases such as "come on, you can do it, keep going, good boy, good girl etc."  In fact it is often this enthusiastic support that makes the child keep going, earnestly delighted in the attention and belief we bestow upon them.  Each small act achieved is momentous and contains endless possibility.
