Every now and again it is important for us to do an inventory and examine our relationship to independence and freedom. Independence requires great courage and contemplation. It is not about isolation or doing everything ourselves. It is about the ability to care for ourselves in a way that does not compormise our beliefs and values. Freedom is something we must always care for and honor. True freedom is something we can only give to ourselves.

Listening is a subtle art and a powerful tool. It is a rare and auspicious quality that is difficult to master. Listening invites insight and intuition. It is not passive. It is active consciousness.  

When we decide to listen we become immediately calmer. Our focus shifts as we put our attention on the other person. We are no longer self conscious. We become free.
